After going to the Rockies game and admiring the grass, my cute husband was inspired to make our grass look like this! One day he was down on the computer forever researching on how to make it the different shades of green. He is so funny...he couldn't wait until the following weekend to try it out. So, Saturday came he woke up excited and was searching the house for some kind of weights to put on the back of the mower. The weight pushes the blades and the grass down and then when you go up it will push it the other way, giving it the different shades. After watching many YouTube videos on how to do this at home and the cheapest way possible he rigged up this....
He could not find his other dumb bell so he made a brick work haha duck tape it useful for ANYTHING :) He taped them on and off he went. I was a little sceptical at first but was excited to see how it would work. Our lawn mower is not self propelled and the hill in our front lawn is kinda steep adding 12 more LBS to push up the hill didn't sound too fun to me. But oh boy, was it worth it!

He had to stop a bunch of times to retape the brick and dumb bell haha and he would turn the mower off every time he had to turn around so it didn't cut any grass out of the lines. I kept hearing the mower start and stop, I thought something was wrong...but nope, just making it perfect!

Looking pretty good... I was impressed!

After a few hours and a couple tanks of gas ha ha jk about the gas ( I gave him a hard time about turning it on and off so much) here it is... the finished product! Good job babe, it looked great! I don't think he will be mowing it like this every week, but it was fun to give it a try! He even went over it all twice the opposite direction to get the checkered look but you can't really tell. You can see the different shades though. I thought it looked sweet not quite like the Rockies but pretty darn close :) Good job Spence!
