Yesterday I took a trip to Mountain Home, Idaho. I hear multiple stories from members of my bishopric of when they go Sturgeon fishing and I had heard all about these massive fish they catch. So last night Adam and I drove up to Mountain Home to see what it was all about. First off the poles they use to catch these things are ginormous, and the bait they use is a small fish. They have custom fishing pole holders secured into the ground and they sit on their lawn chairs awaiting the bite. We got there close to dark and within 20 minutes from getting there the fun began... one of them had a bite. As Leon ( one of the bishops fishing friends) was reeling it in, he looks up at me and said, "Michelle, get down here and help me get this fish in." He said he had seen one other girl ever down here and it was a once in a life time chance to catch a fish like this. So down I went, he handed me the pole and I could barely hang on to it the fish was fighting it, and man it was one strong fish... to make a long story short. It took us a hour and a half to get him in, they said it was the toughest fish they had ever dealt with. My arms were shaking, by bum was sore from sitting on the rock and holding the pole with all my might. Today my bum hurts and my whole body is sore from the work out. It was totally worth it though. Thanks to their help of helping me hold the pole up, I reeled it in. :) I honestly would not have been able to do it myself for that long, after like 15 min of doing it by my self I was hurting. It was by far the biggest thing I had ever seen! It was awesome!
I was trying to get a picture to show how big the poles were, but you still can not see the top of it. My pants are rolled up cause I had just gone down to touch the fish I usually dont roll them up like that. ha ha
These are the 2 men that helped me reel it in.
The crew plus the bishop.
This was this moring. We were standing right below here when we got the fish.
Me and Adam in the morning... We selpt out side in the rain on cots. I did not sleep much, it was a little chilly.

This is me, with some help, holding the pole with all my might!

Straddling the pole... They told me too. ha ha
And here he is, you can not keep them so what they do is flip them over on their back to keep them from swimming away and measure it and get photos for proof they caught them.
Sweet huh:) They are measuring it. 7'9 and they estimated it weighed about 185.
I am touching it, I had to get proof I touched it! It was awesome!
