Lost Keys!!

Sorry for the long story but it's been quit the day... So for Relief society I have been planing this little camp out and I asked my mom to come up and do this faith walk that she did with her young women. So last night we went up to the cabin to check things out so we had an idea of where to set up the faith walk. The cabin is up at Causey Estates, and the family who owns it has a son Chris and a daughter Joyann that is in my ward. So last night Chris met me and my mom at my house and we headed up there in my 4-runner. I brought Keeno because I felt bad putting in back in the basement were he is all day when I am at work. We reached the cabin I locked the car and while I was shutting the door Keeno's leash got caught so I unlocked it and got it out and I remembered thinking to my self... self you should just put the keys in the car and keep it unlocked... not listening to my self I locked the car and we started on some trails, (that was the last thing I remember about having my keys) so off we went to find the best place to have the faith walk. The first trail was a little sketchie, you could tell it is not used very often. We were stepping over logs, holding back branches to make our way through the woods. I had to pick Keeno up often to help him over logs and such. We made it though and walked back up on the road to the cabin. We decided that trail would be too hard to have it on because of all the branches and logs in the trail. We went across the street to explore another trail, it was much better as we were walking around and talking about where we should put up the ropes I put my hand in my pocket and said my mom, kinda laughing, "I lost the keys!" I really was not too worried at that point because I remembered thinking, they are probably just in the 4-runner. As we got back to the car I went to open the door and realized it was locked, and this is when I started to freak out a little. By this time it was getting dark, I am looking through the windows for the keys and I can not see them any where. We all start looking around, Chris goes back down the trail to see what he can find, and after about 30 minutes of searching we were not sure what to do. To top it off we have no cell phone service! Chris says we have two options, we can take the old Jeep ( I mean this thing was old, 1947) up to the top of the mountain to get service and call someone to come get us, or try to break into the 4-runner. We first tried to get into the 4-runner but he could barley get the metal thing he found down through the window, needless to say it was unsuccessful. We got into the Jeep, mind you that it is only a two-seater. My mom in the passenger seat and Chris driving, that leaves me and Keeno to the back. Up the mountain we went, it actually was a really pretty night and surprisingly not too cold. There was a few spots that were pretty scary ( to my mom) :) where the cliffs were on each side of us and it was pretty steep, but we made our way to the top and could get a bar or two of service. I called my dad, by this time it was about ten pm, I thought for sure he would be asleep. To my surprise he was up watching old Westerns with Sammie, ( the dog my parents are watching). I told him the situation and he was on his way. We headed back down met my dad and went home. We got the Vin number off the 4-runner to see if the dealer could make a key off that... I had no spare key... ya I know very stupid. Get home and I am locked out because my house key is on my keys. Jared had a key to my house from when he watered for me when I was gone, so about one a.m. called him up and he was on his way up to help me out. Mean while my Dad gets his credit card and starts messing with the door and in about 10 min gets it open, ( I felt very safe after knowing how easy it is to break into my house, I will now lock the dead bolt any where I go). I went to bed about 2 a.m., left for work about six forty am. After work I got the key that the dealer had made but with out the chip in it, it only unlocked the door. Nicole, my room mate, took me up there. We got in the car and no keys were to be found. Chris's parents were up there doing some work around the cabin. I showed his Dad about where we started hiking and he went off looking for the lost keys, came back about 5 min later with them in his hand....He said he knelt down said a pray and walked right to them!! Apparenty I need more faith, cause when I prayed for them I did not have the same experience. I was so happy it was pretty much the best thing I had ever seen, my prayers were answered through him!! It was quit the adventure, and I am so sleepy it has been a long day! But I am so happy it all worked out and I did not have to pay all sorts of money to get a new key made and programed to my car and a new key less entry.. Happy ending:)

The happy moment with the keys!

Here is the rickety Jeep that took us up to get service! I did not think people realized what it was really like so I took a picture of it so you could get an idea of what we were working with.

Oh my hell that is too funny. Love the Jeep and love the 4 Runner. When did you get that?

My dear, didn't you say a prayer while you were up in the mountains?
Maybe you did but because the spirit told you the first time and you didn't listen very well, he decided to teach you a lesson. ;) hahaha. That's a funny thought..
Glad you found them. That wouldn't have been fun.

It's a good story to tell. Thanks for sharing. Next time I have that little thought I'll pay more attention too.

Wow! That's funny now but how scary at the time. That jeep really does look way too old to be driven.
What a relief to find your keys. I drove off using my spares because I couldn't find my keys to realize later they were on my bumper...and they were expensive to replace!

You are such a nut! I am glad that you found your keys. Thank goodness for people in our lives that are listening to the spirit when we are not. Been there done that one too many times. Sounds like things are going good for you though. Clay and I are leaving next week back east hopefully we can meet up before then, if not... well we always have the blog :)

Holy donkey crap, I'm glad that someone found those keys of yours! Let me tell you something hilarious, Kylie asked me if I read your story about losing your keys, I told her yes and then she asked what was the deal with you in the picture with that old jeep. I said, "Well Kylie did you read the story yourself?" "She said well some of it cause it was to long to read the whole thing." What a nerd! Anyways glad that everyone is ok and that the keys have been recovered.

Wow, Michelle! When you decide to lose your keys, you sure pick the best moment. ;) j/k Totally something I would've done, especially the "self" instructions that get ignored and that you pay for later. All's well that ends well, right? Wish I could've seen you guys on the jeep... :)

Oh my heavens Michelle. I hope it's okay that I got onto your blog from Jenny Poo's blog. Well, let it be known that I am a dork. I just put two and two together, and realized that Misty is your sister. She always looked familiar and know I know why, it's because she looks like you. Ryelee goes to her school and she loves it. I laughed pretty hard when I read about your lost keys. Hope all is well.
Love,
Mary

Don't you just hate that? I have spent so much money retrieving lost keys. Well, the jeep ride looked like maybe it was almost worth it! Well, it made a great blog post!
